1000 Islands Gateway Get-Away
1000 Islands is a 3-day supported bicycle tour with 2 nights indoors at Gananoque, the central town on the Canadian side of this freshwater archipelago in the St. Lawrence River. The name for the town has indigenous roots and the etymology we like is "Garden of the Great Spirit". It captures the scenery and the local culture.
We travel quiet rural roads and paths in this historic vacation district. The region includes the Frontenac Arch Biosphere. Biospheres are designated by the UNESCO as "learning places for sustainable development". You travel alongside the St. Lawrence River and through rural landscapes.
Two Nights in Gananoque
Accommodation is provided on Day 1 and Day 2 of the tour. We stay in a riverside inn in Gananoque, a town with deep loyalist roots from an era when those loyal to the British crown migrated north from the new American republic. A third night at Gananoque is an option that can be selected when you register.

Testimonials
1000 Islands Gateway Get-Away
Two loop rides take us to Kingston and to a lovely lock on the Rideau Canal system. Kingston offers a wide choice of places for lunch. At the lock we have a catered picnic lunch. A third day ride follows the 1000 Islands Parkway bike path to Brockville and back. Both Brockville and Rockport, a village on the parkway, have choices for lunch stops. Terrain on this tour is flat to gently rolling. You travel alongside the St. Lawrence River and through rural landscapes.
Riders assemble in Gananoque for an 11:00 a.m. start on the first tour date.
