Cycle Canada Tours.

Between 1988 and 2023 Cycle Canada operated cycling tours in Canada. Some every year, some every other year and some on a custom basis. The list below shows all the tours we ran during that time frame. We are currently not operating any multi-day supported tours. We continue to offer the Tour du Canada Time Trial.

Ottawa to Montreal

A relaxed ride along the gentle southern section of the Ottawa River that started with a day to explore the bike paths of Ottawa and ended on bike paths that lead to Montreal's Place Jacques Cartier. We went past Chateau Montebello, the biggest log cabin in the world. 4 days riding including a sightseeing day in Ottawa, distance for three days along the Ottawa River 245 km (150 mi), daily average 81 km (50 mi)..

Thousand Islands — Gananoque and the 1000 Islands
Gananoque and the 1000 Islands

Three days of cycling along side the St. Lawrence River. A mini-vacation in the lovely town of Gananoque. Riding the 1000 Islands dedicated path as well as country roads in the region taking us to the Rideau Canal.

Simcoe Circle — Loop around Lake Simcoe, Ontario
Simcoe Circle

Simcoe Circle is a circumnavigation of Lake Simcoe, a three day trip that starts and ends in Bradford, Ontario just north of Toronto. Cyclists ride clockwise around Lake Simcoe, staying close to the shoreline wherever possible. Total distance by bike 290 km (180 mi.), daily average 58 km (36 mi.).

Tour du Canada is a cycling club. Members of the club participated in the cross-Canada event on a shared cost basis. It was first held in 1988. 59 riding days, total distance by bike 7,640 km (4,645 miles), daily average 129 km ( 80 mi.).

Challenge Level for Cycle Canada Tours

Distances and Terrain

  • Leisurely Tours with average daily distance of 48-56km (30-35mi). Terrain is not hilly.
  • Vacation Tours 84-110km (52-62mi). Mostly gentle to rolling terrain, some trips have 1 or 2 days of climbing.
  • Expedition Tours with average daily distances of 106-113km (66-70mi). Terrain can be hilly and very challenging, sometimes in remote areas.
  • Cross Canada Tours with average daily distances of 112-127km (69-79mi). Terrain can be hilly and very challenging, sometimes in remote areas.

  • Indoor Accommodation. Motels, hotels, historic Inns and Bed and Breakfasts
  • Camping Accommodation. Serviced campgrounds with hot water showers, flush toilets and electricity
  • Camping Accommodation. A few unserviced campgrounds without hot water showers, in some cases no flush toilets and no electricity
  • Some indoor Accommodation. University summer hotels, hostel dorms, motels and hotels
